St. John The Baptist Parish, Louisiana Roofing Permit Regulations and County Ordinances for Unincorporated Areas
St. John The Baptist Parish Roofing Permit Requirements
St. John the Baptist Parish requires permits for all construction and reroofing projects. The Permit Division ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Applications can be submitted online or in person.
For roofing projects, a permit is mandatory. This requirement applies to all residential and commercial structures, with projects beginning on or after August 1, 2025, needing permits and inspections as mandated by Louisiana law (Act 239). It is a violation of Louisiana law for contractors to begin work without a permit, misrepresent project details, or fail to obtain required inspections.
Effective January 1, 2026, contractors performing residential roofing work valued at $7,500 or more must hold a residential roofing or residential construction license.
Unincorporated Areas
The St. John the Baptist Parish Planning Commission is responsible for developing and adopting a master plan for the physical development of the unincorporated areas within the parish. This includes guiding development and ensuring orderly growth.
